Saturday Snuggles with Dipsy our handreared Herdy ❤️

If you haven’t heard Dipsy’s story, she’s definitely our little miracle 🌟.

Rejected by her mum, Dipsy essentially grew up in our livingroom/kitchen; she was the smallest thing we had ever seen with a head wave suggesting neurological issues. All we had was a bucket of hope that she would make it, and against all odds our little Dipo did ❤️

The best part about Dipsy’s success is she has fully integrated with the flock, she still comes to see us (when she isn’t too busy “sheeping) and occasionally welcomes a snuggle but is definitely living her best sheep life ❤️

Don’t miss this chance to welcome these amazing, and super rare, goats to your furry families! We ❤️ ours

Ouessant Sheep Looking for a New Home 🏡

New home 🏡 search for some of our Ouessants.

Guys, help us out by sharing the heck out of this.

I am looking for a home for some of our Ouessants. I had been holding out for a home where they could all go together, but that’s proven to be too big an ask, and having watched them I’m confident we can make little groups out of those who naturally “hang out” together, and they will be very happy.

In the group looking for homes there are lovely ewes, cheeky wethers and some soon-to-be wethers who could be kept as Rams if necessary. Ages 3 months to 6 years ❤️.

All very sweet, friendly and great little companion lawnmowers. The little shoe lace knibblers love company, climbing on your knee and a rich tea biscuit.

They’re up-to-date on vaccinations including heptavac and bluetongue (bultavo-3), and vitamin drenches. They have regular faecals which will be done again before they move. And they’re registered with the ouessant society.

Pricing won’t be excessive, a lovely home for the crazy kids is more important.

Please pop an email to [email protected] for more information ❤️

In light of misinformed people disrupting London Fashion Week the cycle of our British Wool starts with the most important part of sheep welfare.

Shearing sheep is done for even more important reasons than grooming dogs, horses and cats with clippers. The procedure is exactly the same where the blades glide through the rise of the wool and full training is given through British Wool shearing courses. Shearers are highly skilled in this line of work.

At all times animal welfare is the upmost priority and to actually shear sheep is a primary requirement but during the shearing process the sheep are handled with care and they can either sit or lie flat to be shorn. It is the best way for them and the shearer. Some are even done standing up.

Shearing does not hurt the sheep whatsoever and they are so much more comfortable in the summer months to be shorn.

When you wear British wool you promote animal and human welfare. Other materials in fashion actually come at a high cost to human and animal welfare when you look into it which is why more people are looking at British Wool 🇬🇧❤️🐑

I did a post on this several years ago as well. Most people don’t know this.

What Sheep Can See and Remember

I used to think sheep were fairly simple animals, but I was surprised to learn how good their eyesight and memory actually are. Sheep can see colors, although they do not see them in quite the same way as we do. They see blues, greens and yellows quite well, but they find it harder to tell the difference between reds and greens. There is no exact number of colors that sheep can see because they see a range of different shades.

Sheep are also very good at remembering faces. Research has shown that they can recognize at least 50 other sheep and remember their faces for more than two years. They can recognize people too, especially those who regularly look after them. In one study, sheep learned to recognize photographs of four different people and could still identify them when the pictures were taken from different angles.

I found this really interesting because it shows that sheep are much more intelligent and aware of the people and animals around them than we might expect. A sheep that sees the same farmer every day will probably know exactly who that person is.
