Taking a tea break at Abbey Sands. No better place to be than on the beach in The English Riviera. Dappled light, calm, clear water, and as Guy Garvie would say, it's looking like a beautiful day.

So go on throw those curtains wide and head to the SW coast for your break at The Briarfields-Torquay. 🌴🌴🌞 Pack your sunscreen and cozie, we've got the rest covered 🫶 Tel 01803 302484

Yes why indeed?

We really do love getting reviews like this 🥰

But in all honesty, The Briarfields-Torquay is by no means unique!

When you book an independent B&B, Guesthouse or small privately owned hotel, it is all about you. Expect service with heart ❤️ and the knowledge that you have been thought about long before you arrived. So why indeed would you book anywhere else?

Proud to announce that The Briarfields has received a Traveller's Choice Award for 2026. Travellers’ Choice (formerly Certificate of Excellence) recognizes businesses that consistently deliver great service and rank among the top 10% of listings on Tripadvisor

Very grateful, as always, to all the wonderful guests we host over the course of the year at The Briarfields and especially to all those that take the time to submit their review to Tripadvisor. It does make a huge difference to us 👏.

That said, I believe it is a testament to all the fantastic Bed & Breakfasts, Guesthouses or Independent Hotels across the The English Riviera, just how well the area does when dishing out these awards. It is not coincidence, it is just very very good service from lovely hosts, who really care about their guests and want to make sure you all have the best possible holiday in The Bay.

Wherever you are and despite all the challenges, long may the small independent accommodation providers thrive and bring a splash of colour to an otherwise bland corporate world! 🫶

Freshly made Sourdough from Burridge’s Torquay. Ideal for those Briarfields guests who love it toasted with Avocado, Poached Egg and Smoked Salmon/Streaky Bacon. And because I adore the fresh (still warm) end bits with butter and jam, there is not a bit wasted 😋
