Don't Miss the Spectacular Solar Eclipse – Wednesday 12th August!🌑🌞
One of the biggest celestial events in decades is coming to the UK, and here in South Devon we'll have one of the best views in the country! 🌅
🕕 When to watch:
• Eclipse begins: Around 6:15–6:20pm
• Maximum eclipse: Around 7:10–7:15pm
• Ends: Just after 8pm
As the Sun will be low in the western sky, choose somewhere with a clear, unobstructed view of the horizon for the best experience. 🌄
⚠️ Remember: Never look directly at the Sun without certified eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2). Regular sunglasses are not safe.
Who's planning to head out and watch this incredible event?
Here's some ideas on where to go...
1. Babbacombe Downs ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
* Probably the best choice.
* High elevation with a wide, open view over Lyme Bay.
* Plenty of room for people and easy access.
2. Daddyhole Plain ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
* Elevated, west-facing clifftop.
* Very little to block the horizon.
* Less crowded than the harbour.
3. Thatcher Point ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
* Excellent sea views looking west.
* Great if you want dramatic coastal scenery.
4. Berry Head, Brixham ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
* Fantastic elevated viewpoint.
* Worth the short drive if you're in the Bay.
5. Meadfoot ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
* Lovely location, but surrounding cliffs can limit your view depending on exactly where you stand.
