📢 Why your objection to the Woodtown BESS appeal matters:

Torridge District Council refused the Woodtown East Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on 6 July 2026, against officer recommendation, on landscape, farmland, heritage, and cumulative impact grounds. The applicant has now appealed that decision to the Planning Inspectorate.

This site is separate from the Xlinks/Valeon data centre and BESS proposals at Huntshaw and Weare Giffard, but the two cases share the same council and overlapping planning grounds. If this appeal succeeds, it could weaken our ability to rely on the Woodtown refusal as a precedent. If it is dismissed, it strengthens the case against the wider scheme.

You do not need to be a planning expert to have your say, and the deadline to submit a representation is 16 September 2026.

Will all our hill farm followers sign and share to all your friends and family,this petition .. takes a couple of minutes ..
We need more signatures to get it to parliament 🙏🙏

To help stop the 850 acre Ai & Battery storage that is proposed on farm land around Torrington .

Safe Hounds Dog Park if you can share and sign would be fab also 👍

We love Devon and we want it to stay as it is to everyone to enjoy 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Introduce: (1) an immediate moratorium on planning approvals for BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and Data Centres outside designated AI Growth Zones; (2) mandatory Rural Impact Assessments conducted at local level; and (3) mandatory comprehensive investigation into financing of all proposals.

So it’s a sad one .. our beloved Peppa
Crossed the 🌈 we don’t know how old he was but we reckon 15 at least

We inherited him with the purchase of Hill farm and I know the previous owners also did ..a lover of ginger biscuits and with no top teeth it was a mission
He was the best old goat and we will miss him dearly and his very peculiar ways ..💙

So after retrieving the 2xDonkeys at silly o’clock yesterday morning who decided a round of golf was in need ..
We did a 5hr round trip to collect what we thought was two newbies .. we forgot to count and came home with an extra ..as you do 😝
