Bore da, morning all,

I could talk about this beautiful, peaceful valley till the cows come home - like Maggie Moo here, who's still enjoying her summer holidays on our farm - but it's always lovely to hear what our guests think. This is from Sue, who stayed with us earlier this summer:

"We absolutely loved our stay at Pen-y-Bryn cabin last week. It was the hottest week of the year for a long time and temperatures were in the 30s. The cabin is full of light and it's very comfortable. The decking was a delight with fabulous views of the mountains and sun all day long. We could also shelter in the shade in the garden when it got too hot for the dog. We didn't bother with the tv all week as just the views themselves were so marvellous. We could feel the stress and tightness falling off us day by day. Such a magical place. My partner has a terminal illness and chronic fatigue and he said he felt the cabin, the views and, of course, the weather helped him relax more than he had in years. It's our fave!"

Could you do with a relaxing break in a cosy log cabin? See what's available and book securely online, website link at the top of the Cadair View Lodge page 🐮

Bore da, morning all,

A very lazy start to the day here, as the last of our summer guests arrived yesterday and there are just a couple of check ins over the next few days. I'm looking forward to catching up with some of our wonderful cabin owners over the coming weeks - they're the ones who make it all possible by letting us share their cabins with you, and I'm so grateful for their support.

But today - I'm having a day off to lie on the sofa with Goose 🤣

Back tomorrow, Rachel x

Bore da, morning my lovelies.

It seems that Autumn has arrived overnight in Eryri. Much needed rain and cooler, darker nights have brought some relief from the heatwaves and wildfires of the summer, and although the weather probably has a few more surprises in store this bank holiday week, it's time to start thinking about off-peak autumn getaways.

Autumn has always been my favourite season here - the trees and forests put on their annual show, there are plenty of things to do and places to visit when it's a bit less crowded, and it's the perfect time for long days out and cosy nights in. Our off-peak offers are back from next Sunday 6th September, with up to 5 nights for just £380 every week until the Christmas* holidays. And one-night stays are back too, so if you can only get away for a quick break we've got you covered. Click the website link in our Cadair View Lodge page to check availability and book securely online.

See you soon?

It's all about the reviews these days, isn't it? But for those who don't live their lives online, I have some old-school paper guest books in the cabins and I check them every changeover.

And look what I found yesterday - a fabulous review from a young guest who stayed in Pen y Bryn over the weekend and loved the Snowdon Mountain Railway / Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa and Portmeirion.

And if you've never been snow tubing at Llandudno Snowsports Centre, now you know how it works!

Thank you, you made my day! 😍

Well said Vicki - there's a little sample of The Soap Mine soap in every welcome basket so you can try it for yourselves 💕

Here’s why I reckon £5.50 for a bar of soap is actually a bit of a bargain…

Yes, of course you can buy a bar of soap for considerably less in the supermarket. I’m not going to pretend you can’t.

BUT…

£5.50 is less than the price of a nice coffee and a piece of cake these days. And don’t get me wrong, I’m very partial to a nice coffee and a piece of cake 😁, but half an hour later they’re gone.

A bar of handmade soap? That £5.50 gets you weeks and weeks of use.

Weeks of lovely creamy lather. Weeks of gorgeous fragrance every time you walk into the bathroom. Weeks of turning something you have to do every single day into something just a tiny bit nicer.

And that’s before we get onto the fact that it’s handmade in small batches, takes weeks to cure, comes wrapped without a scrap of plastic and, if you look after it properly, lasts a surprisingly long time.

So yes, you can absolutely buy cheaper soap.

But £5.50 for weeks of tiny, everyday luxury?

I reckon that’s pretty good value for money.

Besides, life’s too short for boring soap. 😁
