We still can’t quite believe the giant visitors who wandered through St Davids on Friday.

Lord Rhys barely fitted underneath the archway at Porth y Twr - some clever crouching was definitely needed….

A very misty and atmospheric St Davids afternoon….

850 years ago Lord Rhys ap Gruffydd founded the very first Eisteddfod. His tomb is in St Davids Cathedral. A giant puppet of Lord Rhys and his dog have been created to celebrate. The procession started this evening where he reawakened to start his journey from St Davids to Cardigan, where the first Eisteddfod was held. They will also visit five other villages before reaching Cardigan on the 27th June.

A huge thank you to one of our recent guests who kindly shared this stunning drone photograph of Ramsey House, captured just last week.

We love how it perfectly shows our location in the heart of St Davids, with the magnificent Cathedral rising in the background. Seeing our little corner of Pembrokeshire from a different perspective reminds us how fortunate we are to call this special place home.

St David’s Cathedral held an Cadw Open Doors event today. Bell tower. Bell ringing. An ancient toilet. Standing stones. A matchstick cathedral model. Mediaeval bells. And a jail complete with an oubliette (to forget) a place to isolate prisoners for slow starvation or psychological torment…!! This was the room with the stones in, the trap door can be seen (now a metal disc).

Save the Date: Open Day and fund-raising event: Saturday 30 May between 10 and 2 to come and try out bell-ringing at Porth-Y-Twr, on the Pebbles. An opportunity to 'Have A go' on the St Davids' Cathedral bells, plus a tour of the bells and see some demonstration ringing. All welcome!

The garden is a riot of colour in this glorious weather! Our now famous signature Ice Plant is touring the country too with guests who’ve taken cuttings from us. It always makes people stop and look when walking past the house 🌺 🕶️
