We've missed posting lots of lovely walkers here to start the Cumbria Way lately but meet Catherine( Thorpe, great Yorkshire name and originally from Yorkshire ). Catherine flew in yesterday from Berlin where she now lives and works.

Come and start your Cumbria Way journey at and if your like Catherine, you may even sleep through the torrential rain๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Give us a ring when booking as we are happy to provide lifts from the station to the Hayfield and then down to the start the following morning.

Alan Brenton ..... Mr. Velo Retro ..... you did it again, organising ( with the help of your amazing team) the most wonderful cycling event this weekend, the 12th edition of Velo Retro - The Friendly Festival in our beautiful little market town of Ulverston.

Well, that was a weekend of weekends .....

What an amazing lot you all are were.

Anth and I want to thank everyone of you for choosing to spend your Bank Holiday weekend with us. Didn't we have the best time๐Ÿ’•

We also had a couple of surprises on the Hayfield this weekend ....

A lovely visit from little Charlie, just 10 weeks old, who surprised us all arriving 8 weeks before his due date๐Ÿ’™

And a first, 'love at 'The Hayfield', Martin, one of our regulars, proposed to his lovely girlfriend Rachael up on the tops in one of the fields with the cows bearing witness. They had a fab weekend celebrating with family and friends, congratulations Martin and Rachael ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฎ
