⚠️ Play Area Safety Update ⚠️

Following the identification of a number of health and safety issues, some play equipment at Heath Drive Play Park and the wooden surround at Austhorp has had to be removed to ensure the safety of everyone using the parks.

The Witches’ Hat at Austhorp also remains unsafe to use and is now being cordoned off, as there is no longer any safety surfacing (bark) beneath the equipment.

We’re pleased to confirm that the remaining equipment at Heath Drive has now been made safe and is once again available for children to enjoy.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Rutland Handyman and Cllrs Bale and Walker for their swift response removing the equipment and wooden surround. We would also like to thank the parishioners who reported these issues through the website and directly to councillors.

This also serves as a reminder that our play parks are in need of significant investment and redevelopment. To help make this happen, Cottesmore Parish Council has established a Parks Working Group, and a new independent community group, Friends of Cottesmore Play Areas, has also been formed.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help shape the future of our play areas and support fundraising efforts to make these improvements a reality.

If you’d like to get involved and make a real difference for the children and families of Cottesmore, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
