Symposium Notice:
Dear All
It is with regret that Tom and Jeff have to notify you that the up coming Kernow Sea Kayak Symposium will be cancelled on the 3/4/5th April.
We shall offer all participants a full Eventbrite refund, in accordance with the Eventbrite booking refund policy.
Jeff & Tom are both extremely committed to ensuring that all original participants do not go away feeling disappointed from this situation and we understand that some will be determined to paddle, to that end we have arranged an alternative solution that will hopefully satisfy all and which goes hand in hand with current recommendations. Those wishing a refund please notify Jeff or Tom, by PM to this page.....
However......
Four coaches have volunteered to run four of the coaching sessions for this weekend as split, smaller groups acting separately and independently to each other.
Pete Bray, Lee Waters, Tom Thorpe & Jeff Allen shall meet with what ever clients who wish to attend and are already booked on to the event, at four separate venues -they will run the following clinics
Jeff Allen aka Expedition Paddler: Incident Management & Rescues - this session will include the first two days of the ISKGA I.M. module, leadership, rescues, rock hopping, surf - Meeting as arranged at Maenporth Beach, Falmouth at 0900 Saturday Morning
Tom Thorpe aka Overfall Paddler: Intermediate to Advanced Journey - this session will include some distance and linking rock gardens, surf zones and islands (conditions dependent), possible surf (3'+) and rolling in the rough (Pitched at experienced old 3 star/four star paddlers, or 5 star paddlers appreciating the company) Meeting at Kennack Sands, at 0900 on the Lizard Peninsular, on one day and a north coast location on the other.
PB Adventures aka Pete Bray: Beginner- intermediate journey - this will involve exploring, rock hopping, possible smaller surf and rolling revision (pitched at the old 3 star, near 3 star level where paddlers feel they need an element of revision in intermediate conditions) Meeting at Swanpool Beach, Falmouth at 0900
Lee John Waters: Sea Survival/Expedition Skills - This will include the ISKGA Sea Survival module, and an introduction to the ISKGA Expedition Skills module taking place over a two day journey or as two independent days on the water, this course is suitable for any level of paddler and is ideal for anyone wishing to enhance their seamanship, survival and general outdoor expedition skill set. Meeting at Durgan Beach, Falmouth 0900
Unless notified by Toby Carr or the Working Boat pub, the presentation and Pizza night shall still take place as planned, but the pub has said that if the threat level rises in which case they will close and course members will have to seek out alternative entertainment
If anyone is presenting conditions that indicate they should be in self isolation, the coaches will reserve the right to refuse participation on the day and it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to participate in the first instance.
Please personal message the Kernow Sea Kayak Symposium if you wish to participate in the courses on offer or to receive a refund.
If you wish to attend the courses we will not be able to offer a refund after the date of 28/29th of March due to costs, reduced participant numbers and commitments.
2021 will be great year we hope!
Happy paddling
Jeff & Tom
