The last week before the October break has been spent on fun activities as a reward for positive engagement and attendance. Bowling, Cinema and Big Fun have been enjoyed by all. Puzzles, colouring and painting have been other relaxing and pleasurable activities which the students have enjoyed completing. There has also been time spent in the woods sawing and collecting wood to use next term to make wooden mallets.
All at Hackberry wish the students a happy and safe week off. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the start of the next term on Monday 2nd November.🎃👻

The week started with a trip back in time at the Streetlife Museum in Hull. The students enjoyed looking around the different transport exhibits as well seeing what the 1940s High Street looked like. Pumpkin season is upon us, so the students had a trip out to Eastfield Farm to select their pumpkin. On return to Hackberry they had fun as they carved their pumpkins and even better fun with the pumpkin piñata. Apple crumble, banana bread and fruit scones were the culinary delights the students made and enjoyed eating this week. The students have also appreciated being out in nature, creating fire to then make toffee for the toffee apples and then of course toasting marshmallows and enjoying smores around the fire. Fishing has been fun this week, however not with the success of previous weeks catch.

At the beginning of the week the students enjoyed the lovely weather on a long bike ride through Laughton Forest to Sunflower Park to spend time with the animals. Time fishing at Blyton pond gave the students some calm and relaxing time, just the same as when other students completed Christmas and Halloween arts and crafts. Squash, football and golf were also enjoyed by the students developing their physical fitness, strength and resilience through sports.

Another busy week for the students at Hackberry. Fishing at Blyton pond was good fun for both the inexperienced and experienced students. Fish of various sizes were caught which gave the students a sense of pride as they posed for photographs and then returned the fish safely back to the pond. The students increased their fitness, knowledge and awareness of the rules of badminton as they competed against each at West Lindsey leisure centre. Students further developed their life skills as they baked lemon drizzle cake, flapjacks, gingerbread and chocolate chip cookies, all of which were enjoyed by the students on the day. A visit to Bransby Horse Sanctuary gave the students an opportunity to stroke the horses and learn about the loving care given to them at the sanctuary. Lastly a visit to an interactive aircraft museum which gave the students the opportunity to learn a little about the science, technology and engineering in aircraft history. The students enjoyed sitting in various cockpits and looking at the various exhibits.

The week started with a 6 mile bike ride across countryside tracks to Kirton in Lindsey. This gave the students a massive confidence boost as they conquered the challenges of the day. The students have loved baking at different times during the week and learnt useful life skills as they made delicious apple crumble, banana bread and chocolate fudge cake. Tie-dyeing t-shirts, tote bags and scrunchies brought out the creative side to the students as they folded/scrunched their fabrics and splattered the paint to create the desired designs. The students laughed and had so much fun as they learnt to play "Imposter" a game that will be frequently played at Hackberry now!

Another week has flown by with the students enjoying numerous activities to help build their confidence and learn new skills. Fishing, baking, completing arts and crafts are only a few to mention. As it is Autumn the students have been to a local area to collect conkers in preparation to make an assortment of crafts and artwork with the conkers in future weeks. In addition to all of this, the students have developed their team player skills, mental focus, physical fitness and agility when they have played squash and football.
