NSPCC Cambridgeshire Branch Our volunteers fundraise through various sporting events, lunches, dinners and coffee mornings.

There are three lunchtime dining clubs based at The Poet's House in Ely, The George at Buckden and The Gonville Hotel in Cambridge. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children was founded in 1884 and its vision is to end cruelty to children. It does this by listening to children, fighting for their rights, helping them when they need it and making them safe. It has service centres across the UK to help children and families affected by providing support and guidance. It also provides the vital ChildLine service, founded in 1986 by Esther Rantzen and her team. This work is financed by a committed and caring community of people who give their money and time to the NSPCC. The Cambridgeshire Branch covers the area which incorporates Ely, Cambridge, St Neots, Huntingdon, St Ives, Cambourne and surrounding villages. Branch members organise a host of events throughout the year to raise much needed funds for the NSPCC's work. These include: dining clubs in Cambridge and Ely, concerts, bridge and tennis tournaments, sponsored events, fashion shows and much more... For upcoming events, check out our Wall.

GOLF DAY IN AID OF NSPCC RAISES £3,750!

Firstly congratulations go to the Winning Team The One Group Team 2 with a winning score of 54.2 and to the runners up in Second Place Birdies, Bogeys, B**r & Bourbon with 56.8 and Third Place Urban Civic with 56.8. It was a close competition all round and clearly some fun was had by all.

Congratulations also go to the winners of the competitions: 'Nearest the Pin on all Par 3 Holes' Duncan Roberts (Hole 1), Martin Walshe (Hole 4), Neil Marks (Hole 11), Kevin Loveridge (Hole 15). Congratulations also to the winners of the 'Longest Drive for the Men' David Clark, 'Longest Drive for the Ladies' Theresa Glasby and the Putting Competition was won by Martin Walshe.

After costs we raised a wonderful £3,750 for the charity's work in this region which is absolutely fantastic, thank you! Since the competition started in 2015, we have raised over £18,282 through this event through this competition. This, together with the Gransden Golfing Society golf competitions in aid of the charity over the years, means that an additional £5,772 can be added making it £25,448 raised by the wonderful sport of golf for the charity in this county.

Our thanks go to the generous teams on the day with £2,356 being raised from the auction and raffle. We are very grateful for the support of the golf clubs who donated the vouchers, companies offering raffle prizes and for the Cambridge Country Club Golf Pro Team who so generously donated coaching lessons, 4 ball voucher, simulator session, beauty and leisure vouchers.

All the funds raised from these golfing events go towards the NSPCC Schools Services work in the region with primary and secondary children. Through the virtual presentations and sessions with the younger children, a number of disclosures have been made and several subsequent prosecutions have resulted. Thank you again for helping us raise funds for the charity to make a difference for children and young people at risk of abuse and neglect in Cambridgeshire and this region.

Our thanks go to our generous hosts and sponsors, The ONE Group team, for their fantastic support in the run up to the competition and for hosting the event on the day, providing some great prizes and sponsoring the wonderful Wining Team Shield, in memory of their colleague Anthony Barnes who was a great supporter of the charity through this golf event. Our thanks to members of The ONE Group team for their help at registration, running the putting competition and managing the auction aspect ahead of the event and throughout the day.

We could not have managed without the excellent support of Aaron Howard the Head Golf Professional, the Pro Shop Team at the Cambridge Country Club and our Course Marshall for the morning. We also very much appreciate the support of Cotto Restaurant who provided the great bacon rolls and delicious lunch.

Finally thanks to our NSPCC volunteers for their help with filling the goodie bags and running the half-way house refreshments. Thanks to Pauline and Peter Gratwick who kindly donated the bottle of ch*****ne.
