We’re starting something new:

A proper introduction to the people behind North Somerset Stays.

There are four of us running things day to day.

The business wouldn’t exist today without Laura: she started the whole new era of Norton Court Farm. She led the 2022 renovation and the interior design of every one of our properties, and now takes the lead on guest experience and coordinates the laundry, stock and daily running of the site.

Bryn keeps the entire business in check. Nothing happens on site without him, from every job and fix to compliance and anything council-related. He lived here as a kid, and now he’s the one holding it all together.

Dave helped out on changeover days as a kid, then sold his coffee shop in 2024 to come back. He runs the website, marketing and tech, and is bringing together some of the best experts in the industry to make every stay better.

Stella joined in 2025. She works with Laura on the laundry and stock, helping keep every cottage ready for the next guests.

We also couldn’t do it without Nat and her cleaning team, Luke who does our lawns, hedges and trees, Amie who does all the hanging baskets and plants, and Carol, our QC manager.

Over the next four weeks, each of us will introduce ourselves properly, in our own words. Laura’s up first.

November on the coast (Weston & Sand Bay)

November is one of the best-kept secrets on this stretch of coast.

The beaches are quiet, and the dogs get the run of them again. Sand Bay welcomes dogs all year (just keep off the dunes), and the summer dog restriction on Weston beach finished at the end of September. It’s worth checking the signs for lead rules on the day.

Up on Worlebury Hill, the woods between Kewstoke and Weston are deep in autumn leaves. One of our guests, Ben, put it best: “highly recommend parking at the Kewstoke beach and walking into Weston-super-Mare through the wooded coastal walk.”

And mid-month, Weston lights up: the illuminated carnival on Friday 13 November from 7pm, then the Christmas lights switch-on and fireworks at sea on Saturday 14 November. Our full weekend guide is on our page.

Our cottages at Norton Court Farm are about five minutes’ drive from Sand Bay. Four of the five have a log burner, and they all welcome dogs. Find us through the link in our bio.

Two of Weston’s best nights of the year fall on the same weekend this November.

Friday 13 November is the illuminated carnival. Roads start closing around 5pm, the procession sets off at 7pm, and the lit-up floats take about two hours to pass. Check the official route map at westoncarnival.co.uk before you head out, and bring some change: the carnival relies on what people give on the night.

Saturday 14 November is the Christmas lights switch-on in the Italian Gardens. It starts at 4pm, the lights come on at 5.30pm, and fireworks over the bay follow later. It’s free to watch from anywhere on the prom, and Knightstone Island and the clearing in Weston Woods are popular spots too.

Staying for both nights? Our Flat 4 at Manor Court is a five-minute walk from the seafront and about 15 minutes on foot to the Grand Pier, so you can leave the car behind while the roads are closed. We have an announcement. 🏡

It all started at Norton Court Farm, back in 1988. Since then, our family has grown beyond the farm. Alongside our dog-friendly countryside cottages, we now have seaside apartments in Weston-super-Mare too.

So we’ve given them one name that fits both: North Somerset Stays. Coast & Country. 🌳🌊

And we’ve built a brand new website to go with it. All nine of our places to stay, together in one place, so you can browse, compare and book direct with us.

Norton Court Farm keeps its name, and we’re still the same family behind it. Nothing changes about how we look after you.

Peak season’s done. Nine properties. Hundreds of guests. One team that made it all happen.

This is a thank you to the people whose faces aren’t on the website. And the ones who are.

We’ve been welcoming guests to North Somerset since 1988. It stopped being just family a while ago. This summer proved it.
