A new chapter at Oaklands
Hello from Oaklands!
We thought it was about time we properly introduced ourselves. We took over Oaklands Guest House on 21 July, but with a wonderfully busy summer season starting almost immediately, we’ve only just found the time to say a proper hello here on Facebook!
We’re Ben and Ingrid, an American-Dutch couple who have spent much of our lives living and working in different parts of the world. Hospitality has been a big part of Ingrid’s career, while Ben has followed his own career path alongside her. After many years of dreaming about having a place of our own, we decided it was time to make that dream a reality, and when we found Oaklands, we knew we had found something very special.
We feel incredibly fortunate to now be part of Oaklands’ story, and to have inherited a guest house with such a wonderful reputation. Tim and Teresa spent nine years lovingly looking after Oaklands, creating the beautiful atmosphere, high standards and warm hospitality that so many guests have come to love.
Our aim is simple: to preserve everything that makes Oaklands special, while adding a little of our own personality along the way. We want Oaklands to continue to be a place where guests feel genuinely welcome, enjoy the warm hospitality and leave with some lovely memories.
The past couple of months have been a whirlwind, but a wonderful one. We’ve met so many lovely guests, heard some fantastic stories and already received an incredible welcome to Weymouth.
So, finally, hello from us!
We’re looking forward to using this page to share a little more of life at Oaklands, introduce you to the people behind the scenes, showcase Weymouth and the Dorset coast, and keep you up to date with what’s happening here.
