One of the things we love most about living in Weymouth is that you don't have to travel far to enjoy something completely different.

Yesterday, Lisa and I hopped on the train and spent the day in beautiful Bath. In just a couple of hours we found ourselves wandering stunning Georgian streets, enjoying great bars and restaurants, and soaking up the atmosphere of one of the UK's most fascinating cities.

It's easy to think of Weymouth simply as a seaside destination, but it's also a fantastic base for exploring the South West. From Bath and Bristol to Exeter, Salisbury and beyond, so many wonderful places are just a comfortable train journey away.

The first, AI sharpened, photo shows a GWR 1366 Class 0-6-0PT (Pannier Tank) hauling a goods train on the famous Weymouth Harbour Tramway behind the Roundhouse.

​Quick Facts about No. 1369:

​The Class: Only six of these locomotives were ever built (1366–1371). They were designed with a short wheelbase specifically for tight curves like those found in docks and street tramways.​Survival: 1369 is the only member of its class that survived into preservation. It is currently a star attraction at the South Devon Railway, where it still runs today.(second image).

🚲 It all happens outside the Roundhouse! 🚲
​The energy is absolutely electric this morning! ⚡️ We are so stoked to see Greg James and the BBC Radio 1 team right here on our doorstep as he kicks off his most ambitious challenge yet : Longest Ride for Comic Relief! 🔴
​Greg is attempting to cycle a massive 1,000km across the UK over the next 8 days. The catch? He’s doing it all on a tandem bike! 🚲🚲 He’ll be joined by various guests and listeners along the way to help him pedal through the pain, the hills, and (knowing British weather) the rain! 🌧️💨
​We are incredibly proud to be the starting point for this epic journey. Let’s show him some love as he sets off to raise life-changing funds for a brilliant cause! ❤️

Superyacht "Mosaique", as seen from room 4. I think it's lovely that people are paying to get a good view of the Roundhouse, but all they had to do was give us a call and they could have just stayed here!
