Rainy outside, sunny inside

08/09/2026

It may be raining outside (hurrah) but the sun continues to shine at The View. Breakfast, serenaded by French cafè music. And rumour has it that the sun will find his hat by lunchtime. The best of both worlds.

Sunday roast, but not as you know it. Cured belly of pork with roast garlic and tarragon brioche pudding and pea and tarragon jus (pimped with a splash of Pedro Ximénez). Happy Sunday.

This should have been ‘New York Eggs’ - lemon- whipped ricotta with chives topped with pastrami and a fried egg served on a toasted bagel. This guest had different ideas - he couldn’t resist The Fruit Pig Company black pudding and asked for a side of 2 slices. This pud is not just for a Full English.

A brace of breakfast specials. A ‘Breakfast Stack’ - a fried egg atop a brunch slice atop a ring of toast. Eggs scrambled in Roquefort butter - creamy and ever so slightly cheesy.

It’s been a while since I hopped onto Insta and with very good reason. We have just celebrated our best August since we took to this wonderful calling almost 9 years ago. To say it has been busy is the biggest understatement of all time. Our occupancy is up by 25% and we have welcomed over 80 guests (many of them returners from home and abroad). That’s a lot of breakfasts and room servicing. The weather has been a godsend and a curse. A godsend for our guests, our business and our frequent trips across the road to our front garden - sun, sea and sand (well, pebbles) but a curse when the temperature in the kitchen has, on many an occasion, reached over 40 degrees and we’ve enviously watched folk frolicking on the beach when we’ve been wrestling with quilt covers and shower screens. I’ve lost all track of time and day. Monday? Friday? They’re all the same in the life of a B&Ber. And we wouldn’t have it any other way (well, occasionally we would) and when we do, we take ourselves out to revel in all Wonderful Weymouth has to offer. We’ve eaten in some of the finest restaurants, had a drink in the best hostelries and revelled in the beauty of our bay and harbour. We’ve been occasional tourists and envied those who are. The 1 September marks the beginning of a more tranquil town but rumour has it that the mercury is set to rise again and our booking diary is buzzing. If these random shots or the thought of a September (or October) break in our fabulous town are calling to you, you know what to do. Don’t delay, book today and book direct for the best prices. Wonderful Weymouth is ready and waiting. See you soon.
