FURTHER UPDATE - Illuminated Whitby Abbey will be going ahead tonight! ✨ The site is now open again as well from 12.20pm. Apologies for the delay.

Update – Monday 26th October

Following the severe weather over the weekend, Whitby Abbey’s opening has been delayed this morning while our team and specialist lighting technicians assess the site and damage caused by the storm.

We’re very hopeful that Illuminated Whitby Abbey can go ahead this evening and intend to open as planned, but we’ll provide a further update within the next hour or so.

🦇🍸 Looking for a spooky cocktail in Whitby? This Dracula-themed bar is perfect for Goth Weekend! 🖤

With Whitby Goth Weekend just around the corner, there’s no better excuse to discover one of the town’s most unusual drinking spots!

Tucked away on historic Church Street, Whitby Crown is a wonderfully gothic bar inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, blending dark interiors, mysterious artefacts, and a touch of Victorian-inspired atmosphere.

Housed inside a former post office, the bar celebrates Whitby’s famous connections to the world’s most legendary vampire, making it a rather fitting place to enjoy a cocktail or two! 🧛‍♂️🍷

But this atmospheric little venue has more than meets the eye!

Among its fascinating curiosities is a stunning Whitby jet and gold crown, created by local jewellers Hamond’s as a tribute to the town’s famous jet-making heritage.

Visitors can also discover a rather unusual piece of Dracula memorabilia – a wooden stake signed by Bram Stoker’s grandson! 🦇

With its moody surroundings, gothic character and fascinating local history, Whitby Crown is a brilliant little discovery for Dracula enthusiasts, lovers of the unusual and anyone looking for somewhere different to enjoy a drink.

And with Whitby Goth Weekend taking place from 30 October to 1 November, the timing couldn’t be better!

The Made in Whitby Christmas Festival returns to Whitby Brewery this December! 🎄🎁

Whitby Brewery will get into the festive spirit this December as the Made in Whitby Christmas Festival returns for two days of Christmas shopping, local creativity, and live music.

Taking place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, from 11am until 9pm each day, the festival will bring together a Christmas Makers Market showcasing independent makers, artists and creative businesses.

Visitors can browse stalls for unique Christmas gifts, support local businesses and enjoy live music throughout the day, all in the atmospheric surroundings of Whitby Brewery, just a short walk from the famous Abbey.

With festive shopping, great music, and locally brewed b**r, it promises a lovely way to enjoy the Christmas season in Whitby while celebrating the town’s creative spirit.
