✨We have just returned from a much needed holiday in Dock Cottage, what a tonic it was.

The most charming cottage, with the sea literally on the doorstep. This teeny tiny place is perfectly situated in Robin Hood's Bay, with a choice of at least five fab food and drinking spots within a few steps. You really don't have to leave the village.

Whether you want to watch the tides roll in, stroll along the beach, cosy up with a book in front of the fire, or spend the evenings making new friends in the Smugglers pub, it's all here for you.

A real treat.

The cottage is well equipped with everything you need.

It's got all the charm you'd expect of an ancient fishing cottage: low ceilings, small winding stairs and snug bathroom facilities.

It's not built for giants, that's for sure! I fitted in perfectly at 4'10", while my husband, on the other hand, was a bit more compromised at 6'2". Not a deal breaker, but certainly a consideration if you're of sturdier proportions or have limited mobility.

Don't miss a stay in this idyllic cottage, it's really quite magical.✨

There is something about Robin Hood’s Bay that makes time slow down.

Maybe it’s the tides deciding your day instead of the clock. Maybe it’s the cobbled streets, the sea air, the way people still stop to say hello or share their table with you at the local pub.

It’s a place where you pause a little longer to look at the view, chat to a stranger, or simply sit and listen to the waves lost in your own thoughts.

I think time is one of the reasons so many people return year after year. Robin Hood’s Bay gives you the gift of time and in todays world that feels more special than ever.

I wanted to share these amazing photos of Robin Hood’s Bay taken by a very talented young photographer called Isaac.

I’ve spoken before about how the love of the Bay passes through generations, and I think these photos capture that perfectly. It’s wonderful to see Robin Hood’s Bay through the eyes of someone so young, and these photos really capture the beauty and character of Bay.

To think these were taken by a 15-year-old makes them even more impressive.

We would love your help please 😊

At Sherwood House, guests will receive a free public car parking pass for Robin Hood’s Bay.

However, we are looking at offering guests the option to park in a garage at the top of the Bay instead (roughly the same walking distance as the large public car park). This would mean you could come and go as you please without worrying about finding a space.

What do you think? Would you use a garage if it was available?

I’d really appreciate your thoughts as I know parking can sometimes be a little tricky in Robin Hood’s Bay, especially during the summer months.

We’ve have lots of new followers recently so hello 👋 and thanks for following us.

I just thought I would do a little bit of an intro to us (Sian and Matt) the lucky owners of Dock Cottage, and Sherwood House.

Twenty five years ago Matt brought me to Robin Hood’s bay as an anniversary treat and we both fell in love with the place and have been regular visitors ever since.

In August 2024 we managed to become the new owners of one of the most photographed cottages in Robin Hood’s Bay - Dock Cottage.

Then in April 2026, we purchased Sherwood House, which is slightly larger making it perfect for family and friends.

We are 100% independent and are not on any booking sites and strive to keep the ethos of the independent nature of Robin Hood’s Bay which is what adds to it’s uniqueness and charm.

We you book, you book with us, Matt and Sian.

Thank you to those who have supported us from the beginning and hello to those new followers who are joining us on our journey.

✨ Exciting updates from Dock Cottage ✨

As many of you know we have recently purchased Sherwood House which (once we have renovated it) will be perfect for stays with family and friends.

To mark this exciting new chapter, we’ve got a lovely new logo which now incorporates both Dock Cottage and Sherwood House. We are super pleased with it 😊

We’ve also launched a new booking system on our website, so if you happen to notice any little glitches whilst we settle in, please do let us know.
