Get ready to dig, sculpt and create. Join us on Sunday 16th August for the Whitley Bay annual Sandcastle Competition, a day of seaside fun for all ages.

🌊 Location: Whitley Bay Beach.
🕘 Time: 10am.
❤️ Prizes.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Open to families and solo sculptors. Everyone is welcome.

Bring your buckets, spades and imagination. Whether you’re building a classic castle or a wild sea creature, it’s your time to get creative and enjoy a great family day out.

Free to enter – just show up, register at our registration table and get building.

The event has been organised by the Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade in partnership with the incredible Whitley Bay Round Table who have volunteered to ensure this much-loved event goes ahead for the community. Bravo lads 💛

North Tyneside Council are kindly supporting the Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade with the event by supplying a PA system and members of their staff to assist on the day.

Great news 🙌🏻

The AA have analysed the top Blue Flag beaches across the UK and Ireland using a range of factors including Google search popularity, Google review scores, parking costs, sunshine hours and average sea temperatures.

The AA said of “With 74,000 Google searches a month, Whitley Bay is the most sought-after beach in our rankings. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular – the water quality is excellent, lifeguards patrol the beach in the summer months, and parking costs just £3 for the entire day. You’ll find all the British seaside essentials here, including traditional fish and chip shops, arcades and ice cream parlours. Overlooking the seafront is the iconic Spanish City, a beautifully restored Edwardian landmark whose distinctive white dome hosts restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.”

We are always looking for new places for recommendations to guests. Cresswell Pele Tower & Walled Garden is around 19 miles from Whitley bay, about a 35 minute drive along the stunning Northumberland coastline. Pele towers are basically miniature castles built between 1350 & 1600 as a defensive retreat against attacks from either side of the Scottish Border. Thanks to recent excavations and extensive renovations Cresswell Pele Tower is a well preserved example and open to the public on selected days. The garden offers a wildlife pond, a medieval orchard, cordoned fruit, raised beds, beehives and more!! All dog friendly and accessible. Druridge Bay is also only 6 miles away, a beautiful 7 mile stretch of coastline famous for its pristine sandy beach and rich birdwatching opportunities.

I’m often asked about what The Beach Hideaway was before we made it into what it is now!! Apparently it has been a taxi office & take away in the past, but this shows just where we started and how far we have come!! X

We have had a lovely weekend enjoying the weather and showing Whitley Bay off to our visiting friends. We took them to many of our favourite spots (ch*****ne bar)
