🎈Today we are celebrating this superstar pony turning 18.
His name is apparently 'sensitive content' so we may have to shorten it to Tigger or Trigs!
He is a popular choice for horseback archery, horseboarding, carriage driving, horseball and polocrosse lessons and is well loved by his fan club or RDA riders, drivers and volunteers.

Learning to plait is a useful skill. People plait manes for mix of practicality and presentation.

It can help keep the hair neat, prevent hair becoming tangled in equipment, protect it from damage, and show off the horse’s neck for competitions like dressage and showing. Modern techniques use elastic bands or thread or you can even purchase fake braids for quick styling. Historically, it was crucial for soldiers to keep manes from getting caught in weapons.

Some people opt to remove the mane with clippers, but this leaves the horse without protection from flies in summer.

Children can practice learning to plait our ponies during our pony care lessons and during pony days and summer camps.

horses have ear wax.
They naturally secrete wax to protect the ear canals from dirt and dust. Excess build up can sometimes form greasy matting protruding outside the ear.
✂️You should never try to clean the ear canal or remove the hair from inside the ear, but hair and wax outside the ear be safely removed by gently closing the ear with one hand and using curved safety scissors to trim along the edge.
❗️If a horse has fowl smelling discharge, the ears look irritated or swollen, or the horse is shaking his head this is a cause for concern and may require veterinary treatment.
Learn more fun facts and get hands on experience caring for horses during our Pony Club sessions every weekend.

When a horse matches steps with you, it often means the horse is attuned, engaged, and paying close attention to your body language. This is most likely to happen when the horse trusts in your leadership.
During our groundwork group on Thursdays we use fun games and obstacles to improve two way communication so they can understand us better and so we can understand what their behaviour is telling us.
Learn more about horse agility and groundwork from our website or come and join us at midday. You can bring your own horse or learn with one of ours.

🍀Good luck to everyone who is heading back to school this week. We realise that this is a very exciting time for some, but for others school might not be the best place to support their learning.
🎖️Did you know that we provide an alternative education program to support learners through equine facilitated learning. Young people can begin at any time and can be entered for British Horse Society Qualifications, along with other awards and certificates.
ℹ️For more information take a look at our website, link in comments or please contact us to discuss the best pathway for your young person.
