Accommodation on a beachside farm in Northumberland
7 mile stretch of sandy beach with private acces

We currently offer 2 spaces for holidays and short breaks here at Hemscott Hill Farm. Calico Barn Lodge is a converted barn on the farm sleeping up to 18 guests in bunkrooms. The large space is ideal for family get togethers and group stays. Poppy Cottage is our cosy farm cottage which sleeps 4 and is ideal for dog owners and families with large enclosed gardens.

Summer gets a lot of attention on the Northumberland coast.

But we'll let you in on something… the quieter months are pretty special too.

The beaches empty out. The fires go on. Walks become a little wilder and coming back somewhere warm feels even better. Add good food, a sauna, a glass of w**e and a few days with nowhere you need to rush to, and suddenly an out of season coastal break makes a lot of sense.

Maybe you don't need to wait until next summer after all. 🌊

Apparently the Readaway is having a moment and we're very much on board. 📖

The idea is simple: go somewhere lovely with a good book and give yourself permission to do very little else.

Coffee and a few chapters in the morning. A walk along Druridge Bay when you need some fresh air. Back somewhere cosy, fire on, book open.

No sightseeing checklist required.

With Druridge Bay just beyond the dunes, some of the best parts of a stay at Barn on the Bay don't involve driving anywhere.

Start with breakfast, wander down to the beach, take your time along the coast, add a Sauna Hetta experience and finish the day back indoors with something good to eat.

Northumberland has plenty to explore but sometimes it's nice not to have to go anywhere at all.

Save this one for a slower weekend by the sea. 🌾
