If you are looking for a walk with spectacular views, highland cows and a lake, save the Buttermere lakeshore loop.

The route circles the lake for around 4.5 miles, passing woodland, open shoreline and huge views towards the surrounding fells. It is relatively level for much of the way, although there is a short road section and a small rock step where you may need to use your hands. Allow around three hours so you can take your time.
