We just had to share this from the lovely The Donkey Sanctuary who remembers visiting our wee herd and seeing especially Daphne our shyest one doing this?!

Donkeys might be known for their stoic natures, but their body language can tell us a lot about what they're feeling... 😌

When a donkey is completely at ease, the muscles in their face loosen, and their bottom lip may hang down loosely or even dangle to one side. This relaxed “droopy lip” look is often accompanied by half-closed eyes and a still stance.

🎉 HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY DONKEY ROY

Everyone please wish our youngest donkey Roy a very Happy Birthday! 💛

Roy is our mischievous little Irish donkey and without doubt the cheekiest member of the Lower Whitsleigh Farm gang 😂 Alongside Daphne, Delilah, and Dave (Delilah’s son), he loves meeting all our wonderful guests and is always first in line for treats!

And honestly… who doesn’t love a donkey?! 🥕

Last year, I was incredibly proud to be named a finalist in the 2025 Women in Hospitality Award at the The West Country Women Awards — a moment that both Andy and I were immensely proud of and one we'll never forget.

To be recognised alongside so many inspiring women from across the South West was a real honour, and this year I have been nominated once again.

We would be so grateful for any support from our wonderful customers, friends, colleagues, suppliers and community.

As a small family-run business, awards like these are never about one person. They reflect the support of the incredible people around us and the relationships we've built through North Devon Hog Roast and Lower Whitsleigh Farm.

Whether we've catered your wedding, celebration or corporate event, welcomed you for a farm stay, helped with a fundraiser, supported a local cause, or simply made you smile along the way, we would be incredibly grateful if you could spare a few moments to submit a nomination or share your experience.
