Amdani, Wrecsam! ❤️🏆

What a moment for our city.

Wrexham has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our city in the running.

This is a chance to celebrate everything that makes Wrexham so special. Our heritage, creativity, language, humour, communities and culture, and all the incredible things happening here every single day.

And if we win? Wrexham would become the first Welsh City of Culture 🏴✨

Amdani is a Welsh rallying cry. It means go for it. Get stuck in. Let’s do this.

So let’s get behind Wrexham, celebrate what makes this place unique and show everyone exactly what our city has to offer.

We’re in the running. We’ve got a lot to play for. We can win this.

Amdani, Wrecsam! 🙌❤️

Do you have a Wrexham and Märkischer Kreis memory to share?

This week marks the launch of Twinning Memories, a campaign helping to revitalise the long standing partnership between Wrexham and Märkischer Kreis.

For many years, this special connection has brought people, communities, schools, businesses and organisations together, creating friendships, experiences and memories that have lasted a lifetime.

Now, we want to hear your stories❤️

Were you part of a school exchange? Did you visit Märkischer Kreis? Have you welcomed friends or families from Germany to Wrexham? Perhaps you were involved in one of the many cultural, sporting or community exchanges over the years.

We want to hear about it.

Share your story and photographs with us and you could see your memories featured in the Essentials Specials in January. Selected contributors will also be invited to a special Twinning Party at Hotel Wrexham early next year ✨

📸 Ready to share your memory?

Click the link in our comments to find out more and submit your entry. Your memories could help inspire a new generation of connections between our two communities.

Let’s look back at the memories that brought us together and help create new ones for the future.
