Strong winds and heavy rain battered the island over the weekend, throwing travel plans into disarray. But while the weather was doing its worst outside, The George was all roaring fires, flickering candles, delicious food, and a wonderfully warm welcome.

For some guests, an unexpected extra night became part of their island getaway. For others who couldn't make the journey over, our team was on hand to rearrange bookings and find alternative dates. And for those already enjoying the comforts of The George? A leisurely lunch soon turned into afternoon cocktails, followed by dinner. After all, when it's blowing a gale outside, why go anywhere?

Behind the scenes, our team worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable, accommodated and well looked after. From extending room bookings to rearranging stays, we did everything we could to take the stress out of a rather unpredictable weekend. While two storms in two days certainly weren't on anyone's itinerary, they were a lovely reminder of what great hospitality is all about - being flexible, looking after people and making the best of whatever the British weather throws at us!
