There is something very civilised about making lunch the main plan for the day.

Luncheon means seasonal dishes, proper time at the table and the option of a walk through the gardens afterwards.

A delicious luncheon in a truly relaxed setting – book your table on 01904 641241.

Middlethorpe Hall & Spa is a beautiful historic country house near York, but behind its elegant interiors lies a rather darker tale…

Legend has it that a woman was decapitated on the grounds, and stories of a restless spirit have become part of the house’s spooky reputation. 👀

With its antique mirrors, historic rooms and misty gardens, it’s easy to let your imagination run wild here.

But did I see any ghosts during my stay? Not a single one! 😂 Instead, I had a wonderfully restful night, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and woke up feeling refreshed.

Honestly, staying somewhere with centuries of history and a few spooky stories is such a fun idea for Halloween. You get the atmosphere, the history and a little thrill — without needing anything paranormal to happen!

Would you dare to spend the night here? 🕯️ PR

It’s International Chefs Day, so we couldn’t really let it pass without mentioning the man behind many, many plates.

Ashley Binder joined us back in 2008 as Chef de Partie and was rapidly promoted to Sous Chef, and has been Head Chef since 2016, so it’s fair to say he knows the kitchen rather well by now.

A proud Yorkshireman, Ashley works closely with local farmers, fishmongers and butchers, as well as Head Gardener Andrew Leighton, who keeps the kitchen supplied with the seasonal herbs, fruits, and vegetables grown in the walled garden’s ‘Potager.’

Eighteen years with us, two AA Rosettes, and still, a wealth of wonderful ideas that shape our menus.

Happy International Chefs Day to Ashley and our brilliant kitchen team!👨🏼‍🍳
