The “clouds of humidity” you’re thinking of in Santorini are the famous Anedossa (also spelled Anedousa) — a thick, low-lying fog that fills the caldera like a sea of clouds. Villages on the rim appear to float above it. Its advection fog created when warm, humid air from the volcanic land meets the cooler air over the caldera water.
