Years ago, pumice-stone miners discovered caves on the cliff side of Oia which archaeologists identified as ancient housings and antique lodgings. These caves, carved into the rocks of the Caldera, were transformed into Aris Caves, a small and intimate aparthotel with 6 independent studios/apartments. The reconstruction in 1993 and renovation during 2007 were carried out with great respect for the
antique architecture and with minimal changes to the original structure. Aris Caves is situated close to all attractions, barely a 100 yards from the center of Oia and the small homes nestle like eagle nests on the cliff side of the island with a breathtaking view over the caldera of Santorin, the volcano Nea Kameni and the deep blue Aegean Sea. Due to the cliff side location, stairs and low perimeter walls of the property, we recommend children to be at least 8 years of age and unfortunately cannot recommend our hotel to handicapped people.
