Did you know that the doors of historic Athens were designed to tell a story about who lived behind them? Built in 1900, our building preserves this architectural social contract of the Neoclassical era through its two unique entrances.
🏛️ The Grand Entrance (Mansion Style): Around 1900, wealthy Athenians used heavy, symmetrical double wooden doors framed by marble and topped with decorative iron transoms (fanlights) to draw in natural light while projecting status and prestige to the street.
🏡 The Courtyard Door (Vernacular Style): Step inside to our hidden courtyard, and you will find a beautifully contrasting laiko (vernacular) door. These simpler doors were the heart of everyday Athenian life. They featured basic geometric wooden panels (tamplades) — built not to impress the public, but to foster warm, human-scale hospitality.

🌿 A little green escape in the heart of Athens
Just a short walk from the Acropolis, the National Garden is one of those places where Athens suddenly feels quieter.
Wander beneath palm trees, pines, eucalyptus and citrus trees, discover hidden paths, ponds and little corners of history, spot turtles and ducks, or simply find a shady bench and slow down for a while. 🌴🦆

Λίγες μόνο αυλές χωρίζουν το Kyria Boutique House από το σπίτι της οδού Τριπόδων όπου γυρίστηκε η εμβληματική ταινία «Η δε γυνή να φοβήται τον άνδρα».
Οι ομοιότητες των δυο σπιτιών ήταν ένας από τους λόγος που, καιρό πριν, δημιουργήθηκε αυτό το blog post.
Ήμασταν όμως λίγο σκεπτικοί αν έπρεπε να το δημοσιεύσουμε μετά την είδηση της απώλειας της αγαπημένης Μάρως Κοντού.

Τελικά αποφασίσαμε πως αυτός είναι ο δικός μας μικρός φόρος τιμής στην αξέχαστη "Ελενίτσα".

Από την ίδια γειτονιά και τις ίδιες αυλές που κρατούν ακόμη ζωντανή την ατμόσφαιρα της παλιάς Αθήνας, αποχαιρετούμε με συγκίνηση την αγαπημένη ηθοποιό και την ευχαριστούμε που, έστω και για λίγο, είχαμε την τιμή να την έχουμε... «γειτόνισσα».
