When the light goes soft.

The sign lit at the entrance, the pool holding the last of the color and a jacuzzi on the terrace with the cycad palm leaning in. Cheese and tomatoes and preserves set out on the counter, the balcony door open to the sea.

Step out. Sink in. Switch off.

Work like this, or don't.

A co-working room with glass doors onto the courtyard, a long communal table, and a balcony with two chairs and the whole bay in front of them. Then the pool, the daybed and the hanging chair by the water channel.

Open the laptop. Or don't. Stay longer.

The whole day by the water.

The long turquoise pool between the white buildings, a daybed in the shade and the bar under the pergola when you can be bothered. Then the jacuzzi on the terrace, the palms and the sea beyond the forecourt.

Your morning. Your afternoon. Your island.

Slow mornings in Crete.

A rainfall shower, then the long walk down to breakfast, then pastries and warm cake and a table on the balcony under the arch. The palms, the rooftops and the Cretan sea just there behind it all.

Nothing to do. Nowhere to be. Just this.
