This is a unicorn moment for us, which we celebrate now, and will treasure forever, however little it may last.

Statistically, it is impossible to please everyone, we know that well, and we remind ourselves often. Reviews are always very subjective and although we do our best to curate, we cannot control our guests' experience. Adding to that the fact that we do make mistakes, and accidents do happen, we do not read these scores in any way as signalling perfection. What they do show - loudly, clearly, and humblingly - is that consistently, and with great generosity, our guests choose to appreciate our love, attention, and intention, and to look past our shortcomings.

Review after review, guests describe, not perfection, but love. A feeling of calm, beauty, privacy and genuine care. This, rather than perfection, is what makes us a place like no other.

To every guest who has trusted The Vasilicos with their holidays, and returned to write a review: thank you, for coming, and for loving. To the V Team, congratulations on all your amazing work that makes us what we are - keep doing what you are doing, but never forget, these scores are a snapshot, a unicorn moment, a surrendipitous alignment - it is beyond your control and may not last long. Greeks are notoriously hard guests to wow. As locals, they are immune to the Cycladic exoticism, and see beyond the postcard views, the whitewashed walls and the mesmerising shades of blue that usually stun our guests, as if they can see behind the magic curtain.

So, when we woke up to Iokasti's review, it meant just a tiny bit more, and I had to repost, if only in gratitude for this one magnificent sentence:

“First of all the communication leading up to our trip went without a hitch, because of the detailed work of Dimitris. He really took care of everything ahead of time to ensure our 40th wedding anniversary was a very special experience. We so appreciated him and the rest of the V team. Chris was also friendly, joyful, took care of us and all of our needs at The Vasilicos and Santorini. We loved that he came and set up our table in the mornings and then brought our breakfast to us at the specific time we had requested. The food is so delicious and they also made either a homemade banana bread or pumpkin bread that was so moist. The two ladies that cleaned our room and the property were so kind and had our room looking great when we came back to it and their attention to detail was impeccable.”
