What a day in the Cangrejal River Valley.
Today we welcomed two guests visiting from the Bay Island of Utila for a half day adventure with Honduras Waterfall Descents. They’re staying just up the road at Villas Pico Bonito Jungle Eco Lodge and decided to spend part of their trip exploring the waterfalls, jungle and natural pools here at Las Cascadas Lodge.
Perfect weather, plenty of sunshine and two guests who were ready to have some fun. The photos and footage pretty much tell the rest of the story.
You don’t have to stay with us to experience Honduras Waterfall Descents. If you’re staying in the La Ceiba or Cangrejal River Valley area, our half day waterfall tours are a great way to add something completely different to your trip.

There’s another side of Honduras.
Beyond the islands and beaches, the mountains outside La Ceiba rise into some of the richest tropical forest in Central America and this is where you’ll find Las Cascadas Lodge.
We’re a small, four-room boutique lodge in the Cangrejal River Valley beside Pico Bonito National Park. Around the lodge, days can include birdwatching in the rainforest, hiking to waterfalls, rafting the Río Cangrejal, searching for unusual insects and wildlife, or simply slowing down and listening to the jungle.
And when the sun goes down, the forest keeps moving. Our trail cameras regularly give us glimpses into that hidden world, including ocelots and other wildlife roaming the property after dark.
This isn’t a large resort experience. It’s intimate, quiet and designed for travelers who want to actually experience Honduras, not just see it from a hotel room.
