The perfect day in Šibenik, from someone who lives here.
08:00 — Coffee. Nobody here rushes it; an hour over one macchiato is normal. Sit on a stone square and let the town wake up around you. The old town is empty until nine, and that hour is the best one of the day.
10:00 — Walk up. Šibenik is stairs, alleys and small squares stacked on a hillside. Start at St. James’ Cathedral — built entirely of interlocking stone, no mortar — and climb until you run out of town. The view from St. Michael’s Fortress is worth every step.
13:00 — Lunch, then the Adriatic. Eat whatever came in that morning, find a flat rock, and stay in the water until the heat drops. That’s the whole afternoon and it doesn’t need improving.
19:30 — Golden hour. Be on the waterfront by half seven. The stone turns gold, the water goes flat, and the entire town comes out for a walk. This is the part people remember.
Then dinner, and do it all again tomorrow.
Every stop is a walk from our door. That’s the quiet advantage of staying in the old town instead of driving in for the day.
