Each room provides a view on the old town of Split or over the historical Fortress Cornaro which was built in the year 1660. The rooms have each large Flat Screen TV, hardwood floors, spacious bathrooms with showers and provide free Wi-Fi access. The sandy Bačvice Beach, also famous for the vibrant nightlife, can be reached in a 15-minute walk. Owners can help organize various car rental and various excursions to National Parks, surrounding islands or other points of interest along the Adriatic coast. Massages can also be arranged. Main Bus and Train Station, as well as Split Ferry Port with daily connections to nearby islands can be reached in a 10 minute walk. Split Airport can be reached within 25 km. Sleep Split is blessed to have a Roman Palace just across the street 😎❤️🇭🇷

Welcome to Diocletian’s Palace, located in modern-day Split, Croatia. Built at the turn of the 4th century AD, this wasn’t just a peaceful retirement villa; it was a sprawling, Roman military camp. Diocletian was so deeply paranoid about assassination and political collapse that he constructed this giant sanctuary to live out his final days in total isolation, surrounded by his elite bodyguards.

Imagine ruling the known world with an iron fist, completely restructuring the entire Roman Empire, and then doing something no other emperor had ever done: voluntarily retiring to a massive, custom-built seafront fortress.
