There is something truly magical about the city.

A thousand little moments. A thousand stories, all happening at once.

What's one city you could never get tired of exploring in the autumn?

There are many beautiful sunset spots all over Croatia, but there is something about Dubrovnik that always hits differently.

What do you think is it the best sunset spot in town?

According to the legend, giants once roamed the hills of Istria. 🌻
It must be true. Otherwise, how do you explain all those tiny, beautiful towns built on the hilltops? 🍂

One of them was Veli Jože, the gentle giant of Motovun. Maybe that’s why Motovun feels and looks like the legend. ⛅

Walk though its old stones. Take in the views over the Mirna Valley. Look out over the famous Motovun Forest. That’s where some of Istria's finest truffles are found.

And this weekend, there’s another reason to visit!

On 17-18 October, the Teran W**e and Truffle Festival celebrates local wines and delicious truffle dishes.

Come for the festival. Stay for the views. Enjoy Motovun’s magic along the way.

Did you know that the same river that supplied Emperor Diocletian’s Palace still supplies modern-day Split?

Meet river Jadro.

It rises near Solin and flows for only a few kilometres, but its story stretches across centuries.

For the people living here, the Jadro has always been much more than just a river. Its fresh water shaped everyday life and helped local communities grow. The Romans understood its value too. They built an aqueduct to carry water from the Jadro all the way to Diocletian’s Palace in Split.

But the story of the river did not end with the Romans. Centuries later, the area around the Jadro became important in early Croatian history and Christianity. Churches were built nearby, and Croatian rulers were closely connected with this area.

At Hollow Church, King Dmitar Zvonimir, one of Croatia’s best-known medieval kings, was crowned.

Because of its strong connection with Christianity and early Croatian history, the Jadro became known as the “Croatian Jordan.”

Also, it's home to endemic soft-mouth trout or as locals call it Solinka.

Jadro is still vermy much a part of the local life today.

Whenever you need a break from the city, you can come here for a walk, visit the historical sites, sit in the shade and enjoy some time by the river. You can even buy a grill pass for the designated BBQ area and spend the day with your friends and family.

You don’t have to travel far to find nature, history and a little peace all in the same place.

There’s a waterfall in Croatia that disappears every summer. ⛅🍂

So if you come looking for it in the middle of a dry summer, you might stand there wondering what all the fuss was about. Then autumn comes. The rain returns, the river starts filling again and little by little, the waterfall comes back too.

The river drops around 22 metres over the cliff, crashing into the pool below. And creating spectacular views and a powerful sound. Hidden beneath that cascade are the springs of another river.

This is where the Krčić reaches the end of its journey, while the Krka begins just below it.
The weather, the season and the amount of water decide what version of the waterfall you get.

And the great part?

It’s less than two hours from Split plus free entrance. Ideal weekend trip. And autumn is the perfect time to visit. You can connect it with a trip to Knin Fortress or Krka National Park
