After the summer season, remains a fantastic place for and long walks on Hungary’s north shore! 🌋
Starting from the waterside port area in Badacsony town, most scenic spots and trails are just a 10-30 minute walk uphill through and forest paths.
Begin with the iconic Badacsony 360 trail, a 7 km loop marked by blue and red signs, which takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. It leads you past the impressive basalt columns known as Kőkapu and the historic Tördemic mine pit, offering stunning panoramic views along the rim. 🥾🪨
From the port, it’s about a 20-minute climb to the Kisfaludy Lookout Tower (438 m elevation plus an 18 m tower), where you can enjoy unforgettable views over Lake Balaton and the Tapolca Basin. 🏞️🔭
For history lovers, the Bújdosók Lépcsője stairway is a must-see—465 stone steps built in 1936, just 15 minutes from the port, with rest spots and plaques commemorating regional legends. 🪜📜
Explore the Basalt Organ trail on György Hill, about a 25-minute walk from the center. This gentle 4 km circular route features unique geology and 30-meter basalt columns resembling pipe organs. 🎵🌋
If you want a shorter escape, the Calvary Trail winds through peaceful forested chapels about 20 minutes from the town center, perfect for a quiet 1-2 hour stroll. 🌳✝️
Most trails are well marked, and the varied terrain—from volcanic rock to vineyards—makes each step an adventure.
Pack water, wear sturdy shoes, and bring snacks to enjoy at scenic rest spots or local wine cellars nestled nearby. 🍷🥾🍫
After a day on the trails, unwind with the famed Badacsony volcanic wines right in town—just steps from Casa Canem.
Cheers to Badacsony, history, and breathtaking views in hiking paradise! 🌿🍇✨
