How much battery does a night in Camp Mode actually cost? Less than most people expect — and it is the outside temperature that decides, not the model.
15–25 °C: 1–2% per hour, so 8–15% over an 8-hour night
25–35 °C: 2–3% per hour, 15–25%
5–15 °C (roughly where the nights are now): 2–4% per hour, 15–30%
Around freezing: 4–6% per hour, 30–50%
Two things help the most, and the second one surprises people:
1. Drop the setpoint from 22 to 19 °C and make up the difference with a proper duvet. Over eight hours that is a lot of percent.
2. Cover the glass. Sun shades are not only about privacy — they insulate, and that cuts the HVAC load by 10–15%. It is the single biggest efficiency gain from one accessory.
Model 3 or Model Y? About half a percent per hour apart, because of the larger cabin. That is not what should decide it.
