Villa Nangka Villa Nangka - a unique boutique hotel located at the heart of a magical island in Indonesia, called Gili Air.

Villa Nangka is named after the big beautiful Nangka tree in the centre of the garden. As soon as you walk trough the gate, you notice the spacious set up (2000m2) and you will feel the tranquillity. Villa Nangka has an fully equipped open kitchen that looks out to the 11 meter swimming pool. There are five unique rooms, divided over two villa's and one traditional lumbung. Each rooms has his own entrance, his own character and is designed with eye for detail. The large glass windows of each villa will immerse you in your surroundings. When you look out the window and you see the swimming pool and this beautiful garden full of mango, frangipani and coconut trees, as well as other exotic flora and fauna, it’s almost as though the rest of the world doesn’t exist.

Sometimes the nicest part of a holiday is simply having someone else take care of you. No decisions to make, no messages to answer, no thinking about what needs to happen next. Just an hour where you can switch off and let someone else do the looking after.

That's what we want our spa to feel like. From the cold towel and homemade lemonade when you arrive, to the treatment itself and a warm ginger tea and homemade cookie afterwards, we've thought about all the little details so that from the moment you walk in, you can simply relax.

Because for us, a massage has never been just about the massage. It's about how you feel when you walk out again. Hopefully a little more relaxed and in absolutely no hurry to be anywhere else. 🤍

Our spa is open daily. Send us a WhatsApp at +62 812-4647-8056 to book your treatment.

At Villa Nangka, we’ve always loved making things ourselves. Not because it’s necessarily easier, it usually isn’t 😅, but because we love knowing exactly what goes into the things we serve our guests.

Our team makes our own kombucha, bakes fresh bread and homemade cookies, and then there’s our cheesecake... which we’re just going to say might be the best cheesecake on the island ; - )

For us, homemade doesn’t need to mean complicated or fancy. It’s about taking the time to make something ourselves, using good ingredients, experimenting with recipes, and sharing the things we genuinely love with the people who stay with us.

It takes a little more time, but we think that’s part of what makes Villa Nangka feel like home. 🤍

At Villa Nangka Boutique Hotel & Spa, your journey begins not at a formal reception desk, but in our open-air kitchen, the heart of our home. This is where we cook, laugh, share stories, and connect with guests who quickly become friends. From the moment you arrive, you’re not just checking into a boutique hotel on Gili Air, you’re joining our extended island family.

Guests often say that staying with us feels like being at home. We’re always nearby for a chat, a coffee, or a laugh, but we also respect your space and privacy, allowing you to unwind at your own pace. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with your family, we’re here to make sure your stay is relaxed, fun and memorable.

Have you ever wondered why our team is covered in eggs and flour on their birthday? 🥚🎂

It’s an old Indonesian tradition. First comes the egg, then comes the flour, so everyone can see it’s your birthday. And somewhere along the way, someone at Nangka apparently decided that wasn’t messy enough and added coffee grounds to the mix too. 😂

Years ago, our brother Ifan brought this tradition to Villa Nangka. If you knew Ifan, you’ll know this was so typically him. He loved making people laugh, bringing everyone together, and making sure nobody’s birthday ever passed unnoticed.

In February 2023, we lost him far too soon. He left behind more than memories, he left behind a tradition that became part of who we are.

Because every birthday at Villa Nangka, we still crack an egg, throw some flour, add coffee grounds, and laugh together. We celebrate another year of life, and in our own small way, we celebrate Ifan too.

Keeping this tradition alive feels like keeping a little piece of him with us. It reminds us that love doesn’t disappear. Sometimes, it simply changes shape.

We miss you, brother. 🤍

For us, it’s not just about the treatments, it’s about creating a space where you can truly let go, feel cared for, and leave a little lighter than when you arrived. We’re open every day from 9am to 9pm, with the latest appointment at 8pm. We like to keep things personal, so we work by appointment only.

One of the things we're most proud of at Villa Nangka is that our guests don't just get to see the ocean, they can become part of protecting it.

Through our Dive Center, every certified diver has the opportunity to join our team on one of their research dives.

Whether we're identifying sea turtles, photographing reef sharks, monitoring coral health, restoring coral reefs, or collecting data for long-term research, our team will guide you every step of the way. All you need is curiosity, a love for the ocean, and a willingness to learn.

And the best thing? Every dive supports ongoing research and restoration projects in the Gili Matra Marine Reserve, meaning your holiday can leave a positive impact long after you've gone home.

Check out our weekly Conservation Dive Schedule in the highlights on and spend a morning exploring the beautiful reefs of the Gili Islands while giving back to the ocean.

More than 10 years ago I did my first dive in Komodo National Park. I remember descending and not knowing where to look. It felt like standing at a busy cross road in New York City. There was so much happening. So many fish. So much life.

And then there was the noise. What was that noise? Wasn’t the ocean supposed to be quiet? And then I realized ...this is what a healthy ocean looks like. You can hear a reef when it’s full of life. And then came the tears. Because so many of the reefs I had seen before… didn’t look like this. We’ve already lost so much.

I remember thinking: will I ever be able to take my daughters diving and show them a healthy ocean? And in that moment, I made a commitment: to do whatever is in my ability to make sure the next generation can still witness this.

And now I’m going back. To lead, together with two of our Superwoman, our first Coral Catch Expedition. And I couldn’t be more excited! The women who once didn’t had access to the ocean are now leading a conservation expedition and the funds of the expedition go towards supporting the next batch of Superwomen. It’s a FULL CIRCLE!

One of my favorite things is watching people settle into island life. It usually starts with small things. They stop looking at their watch and breakfast stretches a little longer. Plans become less important. And before you know, the they're cycling around the island with no particular destination at all.

I think that's the magic of Gili Air. Not that it changes who you are, but that it reminds you of a version of yourself that gets lost in the busyness of everyday life.

We can't promise you'll fix your whole life in a week here. But we've watched a lot of people remember how to be still. A morning with nowhere to be. That's the luxury we actually believe in!

Twelve years ago, we met on a tiny island. Neither of us could have imagined that one day we'd build a life here together.

What started as an adventure slowly became a home. Along the way, we built a family, a boutique hotel and spa, a conservation dive center, an NGO, and helped support the start of an intercultural school.

Looking back, I realize it was never just about building businesses. It was about building a life filled with purpose, surrounded by people who inspire us, and becoming part of a community that has given us so much over the years.

Every guest who walks through our doors becomes a small part of that story, and for that, we're incredibly grateful. 🤍See you under the Nangka tree!
