A reef, a few children, and a quiet revolution beneath the sea 🌊
Gili Air has always been more than a postcard paradise.
It is a living ecosystem — where sea, soil, and soul are deeply connected. 🌿
Beneath these waters, the BioRock coral restoration project — in partnership with — continued its work this year, gently bringing sections of the reef back to life.
Coral fragments were replanted onto metal structures powered by low-voltage currents, helping them grow stronger and more resilient, even in warming seas.
But what made this year truly special was not only the technology —
it was the children. 🤍
Local kids stepped into the water, held coral in their hands, and placed it onto the reef.
They learned how coral breathes.
How it feeds.
How fragile — and alive — this underwater world really is. 🪸
They didn’t just learn about the ocean —
they became part of its future.
Every coral planted.
Every small hand in the water.
This is what regeneration looks like —
slow, hopeful, and quietly powerful. ✨
