Bambu Indah has more than 15 natural pools, each fed by underground springs. The water moves down through volcanic rock and sand before it reaches the pools, arriving clear and cold straight from the mountain. From here it keeps moving, into the river and eventually the ocean, the same cycle it’s followed for centuries.

“Many places have islands, beaches, mountains, forests and also rice fields, but only one place has the Balinese, and that’s Bali. Many people say tourism spoils places; I feel like Bali spoils its tourists. It’s a conscious place, a different experience.

Our location on the Sayan Ridge brings both Bali’s natural beauty and its cultural heritage right to our doorstep. On the Trash Walk, you’ll carry a sharpened bamboo stick along the Ayung River, spearing plastic bottles and stray rubbish as you go. The route passes our regenerated rice paddies and the pigs, ducks, and goats over at Bongaksa. Most walk away swearing off single-use plastic for good.

Pawon House opens through an antique carved wooden door. As you step through the hundred year-old doors, the private pool is right there. With a patio looking over the Bongkasa’s rice fields and the sounds of the Ayung River running below. You may see some rosella growing right outside Pawon House depending on the season; feel free to pluck some and we’ll make you some tea at Sunset Bar right next to you.

Full Moon House sits 160 steps from reception, built up on multiple levels with its own pool and yoga deck. A cinnamon tree grows straight through the side of the house. Overlooking emerald rice fields and the Ayung River below, you wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the water rushing through the valley.

Newest members of the Bambu Indah family; take a morning walk across the rice fields to pay them a visit. The herd includes the two does who live across the river, and this season there’s a new kid finding its legs among them. Watching them get milked in the morning and afternoon is something worth bringing your kids to see. At Bambu Indah, regeneration includes the land, the animals, and the people who spend time here.
