Say hi to our farmer, Bapak Wayan Baruk — though most people know him as Pak Uyung — when you stay at Wapa di Ume Ubud. He’s one of the kindest people you’ll meet and has been lovingly caring for our rice fields for years. Almost every day, he comes by to watch over the fields, patiently protecting the young rice from hungry birds and making sure everything grows beautifully.
What makes this even more special is that Pak Uyung and the local farmers take care of the rice fields on a voluntary basis. As a way of supporting them and honoring their dedication, we give 100% of the harvest back to the farmers. It’s a meaningful partnership built on trust, gratitude, and a shared commitment to preserving Bali’s rich agricultural heritage.
This initiative is also part of our commitment to Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual world. Beyond caring for the land (Palemahan), we extend our support to the people who nurture it (Pawongan) by ensuring that the benefits of the harvest go directly to our local farming community. 🌾🙏✨
