Brenda Fricker's funeral will take place today. 🙏

The Oscar-winner sadly died last month on July 16th at the age of 81 in Dublin's Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross. She passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the hospice's staff. Her agent Phil Belfield confirmed her death, describing the Irish actress as a “legend” whom he was “honoured to know”.

She was best known for her roles in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and My Left Foot, the latter of which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1990. She also starred in television projects such as the BBC medical drama Casualty.

Late of the Liberties and formerly of Dundrum, Brenda is predeceased by her mother, Bina, father, Desmond, and sister, Grainne.

The funeral service will take place at 11 am in St. Catherine's Church, Meath Street, followed by a private burial.

More details in the comments.

Ever wonder where the casks come from - here’s a fascinating clip

A 1,000-year-old oak tree from Swainstown Farm in County Meath has been transformed into three rare whiskey casks for Drogheda-based Boann Distillery.

The project links the Preston family’s long association with Drogheda’s whiskey trade with Boann’s work to revive historic Irish whiskey recipes.

The casks will now be filled with whiskey based on a late 19th-century Preston’s recipe, with the finished release expected next year.
