Viking Sub Aqua Club checked into Heyday Hostel last week for an action-packed trip to Ballina! 🤿🌊

After days spent diving off the Mayo coast and exploring our incredible waters, there was still time to enjoy a few local pubs before heading back to Heyday for comfy beds, vibrant communal spaces and some well-earned relaxation. 🛏️🍻

We loved having the group stay with us and hope to welcome them back for another diving adventure soon!

Meet Hanna 👋Originally from Ukraine, Hanna has been living in Ireland for the past four years and has been a very dedicated member of our Housekeeping team here at Heyday Hostel for the past two years.

Hanna loves being part of our friendly and caring team and enjoys meeting people from all over the world through her work at Heyday.

Outside of the hostel, Hanna enjoys keeping active, listening to music and making delicious desserts. She also loves learning new things and spending quality time with her family and friends.

We’re delighted to have Hanna as part of Team Heyday 💛

Surfing on the Wild Atlantic Way? 🏄🌊

Just 15 minutes by bus or car from Heyday Hostel, you’ll find Enniscrone and the brilliant Seventh Wave Surf School. It’s the perfect spot to catch some waves during your stay.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve surfed before, it’s a brilliant way to get out, have some fun and experience the west coast.

After a day on the waves, head back to Heyday, settle into a comfy bed and make the most of our modern, state-of-the-art communal areas. The perfect place to relax, recharge and meet fellow travellers.

Meet Caitlin! 🌟Originally from New Jersey, USA, Caitlin made the move to Ireland four years ago and has loved calling it home ever since. With family roots in Ballina through her dad, Mayo has always held a special place in her heart. ☘️

Caitlin is currently finishing up her degree in Journalism, Sociology and Politics at the University of Galway and is set to graduate soon, an exciting milestone! 🎓

When she’s not working at Heyday Hostel, you’ll usually find her curled up with a good book or listening to her favourite music.

We were delighted to welcome a group of students from Poland to Heyday Hostel as part of an Erasmus exchange programme with the local Gaelscoil. 👋

During their stay, the students enjoyed a fantastic mix of sporting activities, arts and crafts, and cultural experiences while making new friendships and learning about life in Mayo.

Their adventures included visits to some of the region’s most iconic attractions, including Turlough House, Mount Falcon and the breathtaking Dun Briste sea stack in Downpatrick Head.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the exchange such a memorable experience. We loved having you stay with us and hope to welcome you back again in the future! ☘️

We’re proud to be sponsoring one of the highlights of this year’s Ballina Salmon Festival! 🎣

Join us for Crinniú na mBád (The Gathering of the Boats) as a colourful flotilla of boats takes to the River Moy, celebrating Ballina’s rich maritime heritage and its world-famous salmon tradition.

As you soak up the atmosphere, enjoy complimentary samples of fresh salmon, traditional brown bread and Guinness while taking in one of the festival’s most unique events.
