Monks is in the new edition of Burren Dinners.

Trevis L. Gleason’s book gathers the best of hospitality and food producers of the Burren and the dinners they cook at home for friends and family. The new edition includes our own Katelin Vaughan and her story.

Katelin started with us as a teenager, waiting tables. She now looks after the team here, including the ones just starting out.

Monks has long been part of that experience. Its waterside setting gives the immediate appeal, but the real attraction is the combination of lively hospitality, comfortable accommodation and food with a sense of immediacy that reflects the coastal location. While we might not be delighted to see the rain… There’s something about that first burst of sunshine afterwards 🌈

The clouds clear, the light hits Ballyvaughan Bay and suddenly everything feels a little brighter.

And sometimes, if you’re lucky, the rainbow lands right on Monks. We’ll take that as a good sign. Thanks to our wonderful visitor Sarah for sharing this amazing shot with us.

What a great August Bank Holiday weekend! Thanks to everyone who joined us through sunshine and rain. To those who drank pints on the pier, and enjoyed fish and chips on the terrace or sitting on the wall. It was one to remember!
