While we might not be delighted to see the rain… There’s something about that first burst of sunshine afterwards 🌈

The clouds clear, the light hits Ballyvaughan Bay and suddenly everything feels a little brighter.

And sometimes, if you’re lucky, the rainbow lands right on Monks. We’ll take that as a good sign. Thanks to our wonderful visitor Sarah for sharing this amazing shot with us.

Two reasons to celebrate.

A huge congratulations to Katelin, who has been shortlisted for Bar Manager of the Year at the 2026 Bar of the Year Awards. It is wonderful to see her hard work, warmth and dedication recognised on a national stage.

We are also delighted that Monks has been shortlisted for Best Outside Space. From long summer evenings overlooking Galway Bay to cosy gatherings by the sea, creating a place where people love to spend time has always been at the heart of what we do.

A sincere thank you to our incredible team and to everyone who has supported us along the way. We are honoured to be recognised and look forward to celebrating with our fellow finalists in August.

See what Johnston had to say… “Colette and the entire team at Monks were kind, welcoming, and friendly. The hotel appeared updated and was comfortable.
