A Small Change for the 2026 Championships 🎈

While it was fantastic to see such an incredible response to the return of the Balloons last year, the sheer volume of traffic and vehicles created some significant challenges around parking, traffic flow and safety.

With the event expected to be even bigger this year, we’ve been working closely with An Garda Síochána, the Civil Defence and our own Health & Safety team to put a better system in place.

As a result, parking for the Championships will be available to reserve in advance, with spaces limited for each flying session
(AM & PM).

The aim is simple: better traffic management, safer access and a smoother experience for everyone coming to enjoy the balloons.

And the good news? The spectacular balloons are still very much the main event! 🔥🎈 With a few 'Special' 😉 balloons due to make an appearance this year, the 2026 Championships are shaping up to be another unmissable event at Lough Key.
