Connemara National Park

This months Exhibition is now ready for viewing 9am to 5.15pm daily. Please pop in and take a look at this beautiful exhibition by Dympna Heanue.

In recent times due to genealogy and as a Diaspora Officer at Ionad Cuimhneacháin Na nImirceach Carna I have come across a number of people with connections to Connemara who live in states such as Oregon, Montana and Idaho. Some people went to work on sheep stations in Oregon & Montana in particular. Seasonal for some. A permanent move for others. I would like to start a Facebook group in order to find as many of these people’s ancestral links to Connemara as possible with the intention of recognising them in an official live link up with Connemara and with one another.
A plaque dedicated to these people will be unveiled in the Centre to Commemorate the Emigrant at an event in May of this year.
