1866 Thermal Village at Castle Varagh Hotel

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Castle Varagh Hotel has been recently granted planning permission for our new 1866 Thermal Wellness Village.

This contemporary Nordic-inspired wellness retreat will be a destination designed to restore balance, recover and elevate wellbeing.

The 1866 Thermal Village will bring together immersive outdoor wellness experiences, including:
• A range of thermal saunas with varying heat experiences
• Cold plunge pools and cold bucket showers
• Tranquil Dipping Pool
• Peat & Seaweed Bathing Experiences
• Dedicated relaxation zones and seating areas

Inspired by Nordic minimalism, the design will be grounded in nature and authenticity, using natural stone, corten steel, thermal woods, and locally informed timber finishes to create a space that is both elemental and refined.

At its core, 1866 is about:
• Wellness for mind and body
• Hot and cold thermal therapy rituals
• Recovery and performance support for local sports teams and athletes
• A tranquil escape for our community and visitors alike

This development will also strengthen Castlepollard as a visitor destination, supporting local tourism, employment, and wider economic growth across the region.
