Buttermilk Lodge Purpose built to accommodate guests in comfort with every modern convenience, Buttermilk Lodge offers One and Two Bedroom Apartments just 5 minutes walk from Clifden centre.

Each apartment has separate kitchen/dining/living areas, with cookers, full kitchen facilities, washer/dryer, sofa, tv, fireplace etc. The bedrooms all have a private shower room (with great water pressure !), storage, TV, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, ironing facilities & every modern convenience. The comfortable large beds are fully dressed, and there are towels, personal toiletries etc. in the shower rooms.

There is complimentary WiFi and parking for guests.

All necessary instructions, lots of local information is provided, maps, guides etc. to ensure you enjoy your stay !

Pat is a keen hill walker. He qualified on the first ever Connemara based guiding course, and is a member of Connemara Walking Guides Association, na Beannna Beola and The Maumturks Walking Groups. He will gladly assist you with suggestions, tips, maps etc and if you would like a guide for your walk he or some of his colleagues can be arranged to guide you.
Pat and Cathriona have a farm nearby where guests are welcome to visit the Connemara Ponies and Sheep.

They will do everything they can to ensure you enjoy your visit. The tasteful décor, stunning mountain views, friendly Connemara Ponies, complimentary private parking, and many extra touches ensure return visits.
Children over 10 are welcome, No smoking !

Heritage Week 2026

And so here we are - another Monday of Show Week in Clifden !

We are delighted to welcome the first of our guests later today for The Connemara Pony Show, Clifden 2026!

It's the 101st show and Clifden is buzzing!

We are thrilled to say we have guests from (in order of arrival) Finland, the UK, the USA and Ireland stay with us this week including a few regulars who have stayed since our first Clifden Show in 1997 !
Sadly we have lost a few regulars in the years since, and others can not travel this year but rest assured they will be fondly remembered, thought of, mentioned and quoted during the week!

Our very best wishes to the Galway Rose Jodie Kenny in this year's Rose of Tralee. An amazing young lady, the perfect ambassador for Galway and Connemara !! We are very proud to say we've known Jodie and her family for years & years ! Her dad was DJ at our wedding, her lovely Mom, Karen was a very dear friend and many of our guests will remember her aunt Marissa who was our right hand lady here for many years !! Best wishes Jodie and may you all have a fabulous time in the Kingdom !!
