Autumn mornings at Dunmore House have their own rhythm. Before the house is fully awake, the kitchen is already alive. The first coffee brewing, breakfast preparations underway, and the smell of freshly baked brown soda bread filling the house.
Every now and then, Carol, the owner, is here for the early morning shift too. It is not usually her clock-in time, but on this particular morning she was in the kitchen, helping Lisa and Olly, our breakfast chefs, bake fresh brown soda bread and prepare more loaves for the day ahead.
There was a special start to this particular morning. A bridal party came down for breakfast before heading off to celebrate one of the biggest days of their lives. That is what we love about mornings here. The faces around the breakfast table are always changing: a wedding party, a weekend away, a family exploring the coast, or guests simply taking their time before another day in West Cork.
But one thing stays the same: breakfast is something we take pride in. Fresh, local and prepared right here in house, with ingredients sourced from our local producers and, where possible, from our own garden. Because for us, hospitality starts long before the first guest sits down.
Welcome to the morning shift at Dunmore House 🍁
