💚❤️ PLEASE RESPECT ACHILL 💚❤️

We are incredibly lucky to call Achill home, and we know how much visitors love coming here. But please help us protect our beautiful island and leave no trace of your visit.

Sadly, we are seeing more and more of the impact of irresponsible camping:- rubbish, abandoned tents, makeshift fire pits, people using the outdoors as a toilet, and damage to our precious sand dunes, machair and landscape. 😔

🔥 Never light fires on the ground or build makeshift fire pits.
🗑️ Take all rubbish home with you.
🚻 Please use the public toilets provided.
🌱 Stay off the dunes and machair and protect our fragile habitats.
⛺ Camp responsibly and only where permitted, we have 2 beautiful campsites!

Come, explore, enjoy and fall in love with Achill ❤️ but please leave it as you found it.

Achill is our home. Please treat it like yours. 💚❤️

Following consultation between the HSE and Uisce Éireann, a Boil Water Notice has been issued for all of the parish of Achill as a precaution to protect public health. Residents and businesses in the affected area are advised to boil all tap water intended for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth and making ice until the notice is lifted. While this is understandably frustrating, these measures are being taken to ensure the safety of everyone using the public water supply.

Uisce Éireann is carrying out the necessary testing and works to restore the water supply to the required standard as quickly as possible. I will continue to engage with Uisce Éireann and keep the community updated as further information becomes available.
