Cork University Business School (CUBS) and University College Cork (UCC) recently hosted the IFAMA 2026 World Conference in Cork.

Supported by Cork Convention Bureau and Fáilte Ireland, this five-day gathering brought global focus to Cork as a premier hub for agri-food innovation, research, and sustainability.

The conference welcomed over 400 international delegates from more than 40 countries, bringing together academics, industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and students.

A central outcome of this year’s meeting was its powerful focus on global resilience and future legacy. Under the theme Rooted in Resilience: Revitalising Agri-Food Systems for an Uncertain Tomorrow, discussions addressed climate adaptation, technological innovation, supply chain disruption, and food security, highlighted by a dedicated Food and Beverage Finance Summit.

In the video below, Prof. Thia Hennessy (UCC), Aidan Connolly (IFAMA), Katherine White (IFAMA), Jughoon Moon (Seoul National University), Juan José Bolaños (Ceiba Agribusiness), and Nicole McDonagh (UCC Business and Events) discuss key insights from the conference and the advantages of hosting an international event in Cork.

We extend our thanks to the IFAMA organising committee, delegates, key partners, and our local hospitality partners for bringing this conference to Cork and ensuring its success.

The Fair Seas Conference was held last week at Cork City Hall to mark World Oceans Week.

There could not have been a more fitting backdrop for the event than Cork City Hall, overlooking Cork Harbour—the second largest natural harbour in the world.

The conference welcomed 250 delegates from across Ireland and internationally to discuss the future of marine protection.

Taking place during the Cork Harbour Festival, attendees had the chance to explore the area with a trip on Cork Harbour Cruises and go aboard the RV Tom Crean. The festival’s famous life-sized basking shark ‘Banba’ was also on display in the harbour alongside the Nao Santa Maria ship.

With today marking World Ocean Day, the central focus of the conference remains highly urgent: driving cross-sector collaboration to achieve Ireland’s target of protecting 30% of our waters by 2030.

In the video below, Jack O’Donovan from Fair Seas and other participants discuss the key takeaways from the day, the importance of shared ocean stewardship, and the experience of gathering in Cork.

Well done to the organising committee at Fair Seas, Margaret O’Regan, and all the delegates on a highly impactful event here in the city.
